Brooke Lynn Schaefer Born October 26th, 2011 at 8:13 am 7 pounds 8 ounces, 20.5 inches long. I woke up at 1:20 am on October 26th to my water breaking! We packed a few last minute things, called Matt's mom to come watch Josh and we were on our way to the hospital. We tried to sleep, but were too excited. Brooke was born at 8:13 am, and came down so fast her little face was bruised and she had ruptured blood vessels in her eyes. The bruising went away by the next day, but the red eyes lasted a few weeks. We brought Brooke home the next day as the maternity ward was filling up fast and we were going to be doubled up in our room if any more women in labor came in. Josh is a great and loving big brother - always wanting to hug her and cuddle her. He does not like to hold her, instead he prefers to have her lay next to him on the couch or in his bed. Brooke has adjusted well to the outside world. She is an ok sleeper, but loves to be held during the day. She has even started smiling thought i have yet to catch one on camera! So since my last update, we have been very busy! In March we announced that we were going to add to our family! Josh is so excited to be a big brother! In the beginning he went back and forth between wanting a brother then a sister. He finally settled on a sister, and told everyone "It's a sister." He was so sure of it! In June we had our big ultrasound and found out he was right - we are having a girl! We are due on Halloween - or devil's night if you ask Matt! For Easter Josh received a big boy bike which he named the Mongooser. In April we also went to the Midland Center of the Arts to see all the dinosaur skeletons. Josh even knew all the skeletons - a lot more than I can say about Matt and I! At the beginning of the summer, Matt built Josh an awesome swing set which he loved! We also went camping with Nana and Grandpa, and Grandpa bought Josh his first fishing pole which they caught 5 fish with while we were camping with the Forche family up at Otsego Lake. In the early fall we went out to the Octagon barn to see all the John Deere's with Mimi and GG. Josh even got to sit on a old back hoe! We visited Carpenter Farms in Adrian again this year where Josh loved the duck races and had a hard time settling on the perfect pumpkin - oh and he had to pick out a little one for sister too! He is really enjoying school this year as he moved up to the big kids room where they have a preschool program. He has lots of friends, but still loves to visit all his old teachers in the toddler room. The preschool kids even took a field trip out to Leipprandt Orchards where the picked an apple and learned how cider is made. They are taking another field trip to the Pigeon hospital in November. Yet another year of Josh refusing to stick his hand inside the pumpkin to pull out the goo, but he did help carve! He is going to be a skeleton for Halloween, and hopefully we will be home from the hospital, and he will be a big brother too! Click on the picture to view the photo gallery.

What a busy few months! Along with being potty trained, Josh is going to "school"! He's going to the daycare program out at Laker's, the local school. I am working full time in the office at Blue Diamond Steel Casting. It has a been a little bit of an adjustment especially with everyone being pretty sick the first two weeks! He is doing great now and talks about all his new friends! Earlier this fall, we went on a field trip with story hour to Leipprandt Orchards and walked through the orchard and picked our own apple! We also went to Aunt Mar's house, and rode her horses, and played with their puppy Tia. Josh loved their John Deere Tractors, and trying to drive them!! Nana and Grandpa took us to the pumpkin patch complete with a petting zoo where Josh loved the bunnies! We had a good Halloween, and went Trick or Treating to a few houses, but we had more fun passing out glow sticks and seeing all the costumes. Josh refused to stick his hand in the "icky" pumpkin again this year, but I did not have to fight him to get into his costume! He loved standing a the door and Roooooaaaarrrrr-ing at all the Trick or Treaters! Click on the picture to view the photo gallery.

Our little man is three!! I’m finally catching up on his photo album and wow the changes! It seems like only yesterday he was eating finger foods and rolling on the floor. Now he’s zooming around a dump truck full of cars and tractors, and running everywhere! He is still very into tractors and trains and begs to watch train videos on You Tube. His favorite is a video of a long train carrying John Deere combines. He was still a little shy with Santa, but managed to get in his lap and ask for a “Blue Electric Train!" We had a great Christmas and Josh and Matt are enjoying all the new projects including a 3 foot tall K’nex rollercoaster and Ferris wheel! He also received a dinosaur dig kit were we had to be archeologists and chisel out a T-rex skeleton – what a fun mess that was! He also had a great birthday but I think Aunt Kara, Aunt Nicole and Ryan had more fun with the Dinosaur Train interactive toys than he did! We finally made it the the Zehnder Snow Fest, (something we haven't done since before I was pregnant) and had a great time. Josh even gave Zendy a highfive! ( He has been deadly affraid of him up till now). He loved all the ice sculputres and even found one of a dinosaur! Click on the picture to view the photo gallery.

Josh is now the proud wearer of Big Boy underwear! It was a bit of a battle getting him to go number 2 and when he finally did, we went to the "tractor store" and he picked out a new tractor and his long awaited seed drill! We visited the petting zoo during Farmers Festival and Josh had a great time feeding the goats, and riding Oreo the pony! The parade was great this year as Josh recieved a Junior Fireman hat, and was able to see lots of big tractors! Ask him about the tractors and he will tell you LOTS more!
